We continue ILEARN testing this week.  Grade 5 will test Monday through Wednesday. Grade 4 will test Thursday and Friday. The testing window will continue for several weeks.  On the grade level testing day, students will receive free breakfast.  Students will need to go through the breakfast line to receive free breakfast. Please be sure your student gets a good night’s sleep and comes to school with their chromebook fully charged.  Students must be on time for school.  Students will not be allowed to enter their classroom late once testing has started.  We appreciate your assistance in helping students perform to the very best of their ability!

All for Books Final from the library

Thank you for participating in the ‘All for Books’ part of the Book Fair.  This was a great way to show ‘Empathy’ to others that don’t have books.  Our fundraiser final winners were 3rd place Ms. Klink’s class with $67.72, and 2nd and 1st place were a tie between Mrs. Cooper’s class and Mrs. Sharpe’s class both contributing $216.65.

Art Show

The GCCS Elementary Art Show will be at the NOCO Center, 628 Michigan Avenue, Jeffersonville this week.  Hours are Thursday 5-8PM, Friday 8-4PM and Saturday 1-4PM.  Riverside artists who will be featured were given information by Mrs. Povey last week.  There is a reception Thursday from 5-8 for students with entries.

Enrollment for 23-24 School Year

Enrollment for next school year is now open!  All returning students, please enroll before the end of this school year by visiting the GCCS website at www.gccschools.com   Our staffing is determined by the number of students enrolled. You should have received a snap code to register your student.  If you need assistance, please contact our office at 812-288-4868. If you have any requests for placement next year, they must be in writing to Ms. Kimmel and must be received no later than May 5. Only requests to address specific student needs will be considered.

Student Council Domino Cards

Science Camp Information

Hello! My name is Daniel Dietrich and I am excited to let you know I am coming to JEFFERSONVILLE to offer a week long science camp for students. The camp meets Monday-Friday for grades K-2 students, it will be 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. There is also an afternoon camp for grades 3-5 students that meets from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The theme this year is “The Magic of Science”. Each student that attends will receive a T-shirt, participate in 20 hands on science experiments, many of which will be take home, 10 instructor led experiments, along with science explanations, snacks, games, and magic tricks. The cost is $40. Space is limited. Hope to see you there! Special thanks to The Greater Clark Education Foundation!

All for Books update from the library

Thank you to all that have donated. There has been a change on the end date. Collection will now end on MONDAY, 4-17-23.

There is a difference of about $30 between 1st and 2nd place and a difference of about $20 between 3rd and 4th.

IREAD Results

3rd grade parents- IREAD results were sent via US mail earlier last week.  If you did not receive yours, please contact your child’s teacher or the front office.

Family Night this Thursday

Our spring Family Night will be this Thursday from 6-7:30.  During this time, you’ll be able to view various curriculum projects from our students including Science, Social Studies, Math, English Language Arts and of course our Art project displays.  There will be demonstrations of our Rube Goldberg projects and Robotics and the choir will be singing at 6:30.  Please come and join us for a night of fun and viewing our students’ hard work!  Family Nite.JPG

The Book Fair is here!  The link below provides a virtual tour of the books available.  The letters sent home provide information for parents on how the book fair runs and the All 4 Books fundraiser contest.  Please visit our Book Fair on Thursday evening during Family Night.  The Book Fair will be open from 6-7:15.

Welcome Back! We hope everyone had a great Spring Break!  Report cards for Quarter 3 will come home this week.  Please review with your child.  Encourage your student to do his or her very best this quarter and finish strong!

Education Foundation Donation

Riverside will be participating in an auction basket  fundraising event for the GCCS Education Foundation.  The Foundation has supported Riverside with several mini-grants for classroom activities this year and in past years.   The theme of the Riverside basket is ‘Disney’.  If you are interested in donating new items to our Disney theme basket, please send those items in by April 5 this week.  If you have questions about donations, please contact the office.

Congratulations Rube Goldberg

Congratulations to the team of Hadlee Eubank, Iris Stewart, Ava Lindemann, Hunter Dimmitt and Carter Schwieman who did a great job of representing Riverside in the District competition.

Wrestling

Our wrestling season concluded with our wrestlers being the North Regional Champions in their first tournament and Riverside wrestlers placing 3rd in the overall district championship in the Main Event. Our 3rd graders took first place in their grade category.  Great job representing Riverside!

Parkview Band

5th grade families are welcome to attend ‘instrument fitting nights’ for 6th grade band, whichever night works best – it doesn’t matter if your child plans to attend Parkview or River Valley.  April 19th, 4:00pm – 7:00pm (Parkview Middle School) April 20th, 4:00pm – 7:00pm (River Valley Middle School)

Track– Permission slips will be coming home this week for any boy or girl in grades 3-5 interested in running track this year.
