DOT DAY

Thursday, September 15 will be International Dot day.  Mrs. Povey, our Art teacher, will be heading up an activity for students to contribute dots.  We invite all our students and staff to wear their poke-a-dots on Thursday to celebrate Dot Day! Here’s a little bit about Dot Day!

International Dot Day is staged to encourage people of all ages to harness their creativity. The inspiration behind the event is the children’s book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. The story behind this book relates the tale of a teacher who challenges one of his female pupils, Vashti (who thinks she cannot draw), to take courage in her abilities. As the story progresses, from a simple dot on a page, the youngster goes on to make her mark. Published in 2003 by Candlewick Press in the United States, The Dot has now been translated into at least twenty languages and read by delighted children and adults in various countries all over the world. Real-life teacher Terry Shay brought this book to his class in the late 2000s and it was this small gesture that sparked Dot Day to life. Since then, this day has grown from just one classroom to become a worldwide celebration each year. This is just one example that shows how a simple act can be like a spark that spreads joy and delight to people everywhere! So get ready to celebrate Dot Day!

Sunday NEWS July 31, 2022

July 31, 2022

We had an excellent start to our school year last week!  Students are in the routine of coming into the school and going straight to the gym.  We will continue this routine on Mondays only.  Beginning this week, on Tuesday through Friday, students will be asked to go straight to class rather than stopping in the gym.  Every day of the week if students want breakfast they must stop in the cafeteria before going to class. It will help if you remind your students, however, we have lots of staff right inside the doors to be sure everyone gets safely to their classroom.

Kindergarten Colors

For the first two full weeks of school we will be helping our Kindergarten students learn their colors by having color days.  We invite all our students to participate.  This week we are wearing:  Monday- red, Tues.- blue, Wed.- green, Thurs.- yellow, Fri. orange.

We will be sending home powerschool letters on how to access or set up your child’s powerschool account later this week. This is a great way for you to keep up to date with your child’s grades. Please be watching for the letter to come home in the orange folder. If you have any questions once you receive it, please call the office.

Car Rider Reminders:

Thank you for your patience as everyone gets into the routines of the car rider line.  We ask that everyone please pull all the way down to the next car or to the yellow line.  Morning drop off is all along the perimeter of the sidewalk from the start of the wide yellow line down by the primary doors back to the end of the sidewalk past the flag pole.  There is a sign indicating the drop off zone. We can be unloading LOTS of cars at once that way and the morning line will be more efficient.  In the afternoon also, please continue pulling down.  We are instructing the students not to cross the yellow line until the car has stopped.  If you need to speak to your child’s teacher, please call back to school or pull all the way down so that the afternoon line can be more efficient.
