December 4, 2022

We have two weeks left in Quarter 2!  Encourage your students to finish strong.  We will be taking our NWEA benchmark testing to see all that we have learned from first semester and what we still need to learn second semester.  Encourage your student to use persistence and give the test their best effort!

Elearning Dec. 16-  Next Friday, Dec. 16 is designated as an elearning day.  Students will be online with their teacher.  Further details will be sent home by your child’s teacher.

Boys’ Basketball Intramurals- Papers will be coming home this week for any boy in grades 3-5 that is interested in basketball.  Intramurals will be conducted next week and the first week after break.  If your student is interested, permission forms must be turned in by this Friday, Dec. 9. Try-outs for the basketball team will be held at the end of the clinic.

Handprint Backpack Keychains

Students recently completed a handprint backpack keychain project in art class. The students learned that colors have meaning and emotions. Students decided which feeling they have most of the time. Then they painted their own hand and placed them on shrinky dink paper.  Ask your child about his/her handprint keychain and why they picked the color that they did!  It’s a great memento for a parent and a great tool for students to express themselves. Thanks to Mrs. Povey for putting this special project together for our students.

Sunday NEWS November 13, 2022

November 13, 2022

This week is National Young Readers Week.  We will be doing several activities planned to highlight reading:  voting for our favorite books, guest readers AND a reading goal challenge.  Mrs. Kimmel is challenging ALL our students and staff to fulfill the goal of reading 20 min per night Monday through Friday this week.  Each student and staff will fill out a goal sheet listing the books/materials read each day.  There’s a bonus line for students to list the book they catch their teacher or parent reading.  Each goal sheet filled out completely will receive a prize.  Goal sheets will be collected on Monday, Nov. 21.  We hope 100% of our students and staff will participate and make the goal of reading 20 minutes per night this week (and hopefully every week after this week!)  The more you read the better reader you become!  Check out the statistics on why reading LOTS is so important: Benefits of 20 min of reading .pdf

Quarter 2 Midterms for students in grades 3-5 will go out this week.
