November 13, 2022

This week is National Young Readers Week.  We will be doing several activities planned to highlight reading:  voting for our favorite books, guest readers AND a reading goal challenge.  Mrs. Kimmel is challenging ALL our students and staff to fulfill the goal of reading 20 min per night Monday through Friday this week.  Each student and staff will fill out a goal sheet listing the books/materials read each day.  There’s a bonus line for students to list the book they catch their teacher or parent reading.  Each goal sheet filled out completely will receive a prize.  Goal sheets will be collected on Monday, Nov. 21.  We hope 100% of our students and staff will participate and make the goal of reading 20 minutes per night this week (and hopefully every week after this week!)  The more you read the better reader you become!  Check out the statistics on why reading LOTS is so important: Benefits of 20 min of reading .pdf

Midterms

Quarter 2 Midterms for students in grades 3-5 will go out this week. All parents can check grades on Powerschool at any time!  Powerschool is a great way to stay up to date on grades and assignments turned in to the teacher.  If you need help setting up your child’s Powerschool account, please call the office.

Gratitude Focus

Our character focus this week and next will be on gratitude.  Here are some ideas to reinforce the character trait of gratitude at home.

Girls’ Bball Tournament

Our girls basketball team has had a GREAT season.  They are undefeated so far.  We would like to wish them luck in the first round of tournament play this Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 4:45 at Riverside against Jonathan Jennings Blue team.  We would like everyone to wear their orange and blue on Wednesday to root on the Roadrunners!

PTO News:

The Riverside staff would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to all those that sent in crock-pot meals and other goodies to feed the staff on Parent Teacher Conference night!  PTO will be meeting this Thursday, Nov. 17 in the library at 6:00.
