May 1, 2022
We are on the last week of ILEARN for grades 3-5. All grades will be taking the math portion of the ILEARN test. Please be sure your student is well rested this week and on time to school with a charged chromebook! In addition this week, paper copies of midterms will go home. You can check your student’s missing assignments and updated grades on Powerschool at any time.
Staff Appreciation Week
This week is staff appreciation week. We have a wonderful caring staff here at Riverside. Our PTO has planned some great treats this week to help celebrate our staff. What means the most to our teachers is knowing that they made a difference in the life of a child. If you are so inclined this week, it would be great if you could send in a note of appreciation from you or your child.
Derby Week
We invite our students and staff to participate in Derby Hat day on Thursday of this week.
Registration
We are planning for the upcoming school year so please register your student as soon as possible. We would like all returning students to be registered before we leave for summer break. Snapcodes were mailed from the Administration Building during spring break. Registration opened on 4/4. At this time we have only 30% of our returning RES students registered. Our enrollment determines the number of teachers we are staffed with, therefore it is super important to get all our students registered. If you have not registered your student, please do so ASAP.
Requests for Placement
Soon we will be formulating class lists. Students are placed based on specific needs. If you have a request to be considered for placement next year, please send a note to the attention of Ms. Kimmel by no later than this Thursday, May 5. No specific teacher names please. We will do the best we can to accommodate your student’s needs.
Volleyball
Mr. Eddy will be hosting a volleyball clinic for 4th and 5th grade boys and girls interested beginning May 9. More information will be sent home this week.
Birthday Reminder
From our student handbook: Due to student health needs such as diabetes and food allergies, as well as being in compliance with the GCCS Wellness Policy, cookies, cupcakes and other sweets are NOT ALLOWED to be brought in for birthday celebration purposes. You may bring in any type of healthy food such as fruit, low fat muffins, cheese or vegetable items or trinkets/birthday goody bags for each student in the class to recognize the special day. Any student birthday celebration/recognition must be approved, in advance, by the teacher. Please refrain from having flowers, balloons, etc. delivered to school.
